For most detailers — whether you’re washing your own cars or running a mobile operation — the AR630 Pro is the one I recommend. The triplex ceramic plunger pump is in a completely different class from the axial pumps you find in consumer pressure washers. It’s built to run continuously, and it shows.

Step Two
Hose & Connections
The hose connects your machine to the gun. For most setups you want a 50’ working hose, a short whip line, and the right garden hose coupler to bring water in. All MTM Hydro hoses handle 4,000+ PSI.

Step Four
Foam Cannon
The foam cannon threads onto your spray gun and uses the pressure washer flow to generate thick snow foam. A good pre-foam lifts contact contamination before you touch the paint.
Wide neck vs. Narrow neck
The MTM PF22.2 comes in wide neck or narrow neck. If you’re buying soaps from us in standard narrow bottles, choose narrow neck. Wide neck is better for large-volume chemical pouring. When in doubt, narrow neck is the more common choice.

Step Five
Foam Soap & Chemical
Different soaps do different jobs through a foam cannon. Snow foam pre-washes (alkaline, for contamination dwell) and contact wash soaps (pH neutral) are not the same product.

Pre-Wash vs. Contact Wash — Don’t mix them up
Pre-wash foam (alkaline): Apply to the car, let it dwell 2–5 min, rinse off. Loosens contamination before you touch paint. | Contact wash (pH neutral): Goes in the bucket and/or foam cannon for the actual wash step. pH-neutral won’t strip coatings or wax.

Nozzles
Quick-connect nozzles attach directly to your spray gun. The tip orifice size must match your machine’s flow rate to maintain proper pressure. The degree controls spray pattern width.

Nozzle tip size is critical. Too small = too much back pressure. Too large = loss of cleaning power. Match your machine to the right orifice size below.

Step Seven
Water Supply & Storage
For shop-based setups, a hose reel keeps your 50’ hose organized. For mobile detailers without access to a water hookup, an onboard water tank is the solution.

Common Questions
Pressure Washer Setup FAQ
Yes — the AR630 Pro draws 20 AMPs, so it requires a dedicated 20A circuit. Most garages and shops already have these. Standard US household outlets are typically 15A, which is not sufficient.
Axial pumps run at high RPM, generate a lot of heat, and are designed for occasional use. Triplex plunger pumps run at much lower RPM, produce less heat, and are built for continuous commercial use. The triplex is why the AR630 Pro can run all day where a consumer machine would overheat and fail.
Usually one of three things: (1) not enough soap concentration — try increasing your soap ratio, (2) machine PSI is too low for the orifice — swap in the 1.5mm orifice for machines under ~1400 PSI, or (3) wrong soap — Koch-Chemie Active Foam and P&S Frostbite both produce excellent foam through the PF22.2.
No. A whip line is primarily used between the machine outlet and a hose reel to reduce stress on the machine’s fitting and allow the reel to rotate freely. If you’re connecting the hose directly to the machine, you can skip it.
Only the hot water variants (AR675 Hot, AR630HW) are rated for hot water input. Running hot water through a cold-water machine will damage the seals and void the warranty.
For the AR XP2 or AR675 series, use 5.0 orifice nozzles. For the AR630 Pro, AR630HW, and AR635, use 4.0 orifice nozzles. Using a nozzle that’s too small creates excessive back pressure on the pump; too large and you lose cleaning power. The 4-pack sets are available in both orifice sizes.
Most mobile detailers use a 50’ hose — it gives you enough reach to work around a full-size pickup without moving the machine. If you’re working in tight spaces, a 25’ hose is more manageable.
